Project Summary
TNB, through its subsidiary TNB Power Generation, has received approval to implement the Hydro Life Extension Program (HLEP) for Sungai Perak’s hydro plants (650.75 MW).The program will refurbish six power stations (18 units) starting in 2024, with the first unit set for operation in 2025 under a new 40-year Power Purchase Agreement.
This will boost TNB’s total hydro capacity to 2,661 MW. HLEP aligns with TNB’s Net Zero 2050 goal and Malaysia’s Low Carbon Aspiration 2040. The project is expected to enhance earnings without affecting TNB’s net assets before commissioning.
